The tradition, lived with faith among the Catholic faithful, consists of going to Church during the first day of the year to bless 12 candles, which then, in prayer, will be lit every first day of the 12 months of the year, as a sign of trust in Divine Providence/Holy Trinity.
The faithful express their trust in God, who will give, if it is his will, health, food, shelter and work...and at the moment of our death we do not lack the Holy Sacrament.
